Is it possible to use the HDD in another CFW PS3 by changing eid_root_key?
Hello all,
I have a large and full HDD in a CFW PS3 that died. I have the eid_root_key, so I can read the contents in the PC.
I have a new CFW PS3. Is there a way of just using the same HDD only changing the old eid_root_key to the new one?
Or do I have to copy everything to the PC, format the HDD in the new PS3, and copy from the PC to the HDD again?
I know the HDDs are encrypted to keys unique to each console, and I think the key is the same for every HDD the same console formats.
But could it be possible to change just the key? Like in PC encrypted volumes, you can always change the password while keeping the same contents.
Thanks!
I didn't find the right solution from the internet.
